To close out the 2022 U10 summer season, Annaghdown Camogie Club hosted a multi-club county blitz on Sunday October 16th, with over 300 girls participating from 10 clubs in this four hour event.
The 10 participating clubs included: Abbeyknockmoy, Annaghdown, Athenry, Carnmore, Castlegar, Clarinbridge, Liam Mellows, Oranmore Maree, Rahoon Newcastle and Turloughmore. Salthill Knocknacarra, who participated in the U10 league through out the summer, were unable to attend.
The event commenced with a clubs parade in front of the main pitch stand. This was followed by 3 hours of camogie to the delight of all in attendance. The blitz itself comprised of 28 teams from the 10 clubs, with each team playing 5 matches (10 minute duration). What a fantastic day of camogie and laughter, with the U10 girls getting the chance to showcase the camogie skills they have been developing throughout the year.
We extend our gratitude to all the players who participated. A special thanks goes to all those who worked tirelessly in the background to ensure this event was such a success, especially to Annaghdown Camogie Club for taking on the huge task of hosting this blitz. Also a huge thanks to all who contributed on the day to the Red Cross Cresslough Community Support Fund for your very generous donations.
Salthill Knocknacarra u9/u10s competed in the u10 Summer league, and although not making this blitz, they travelled to Dublin that day to play the Clanna Gael Club in Ringsend.
During the u10 Summer League, players and coaches were delighted to have the opportunity to play against all the clubs involved, proving a great and fun experience for all the players.
The future is very bright for camogie in Galway!
