Go raibh maith agat Ann!

At our recent Convention in Raheen Woods Hotel, a presentation was made to our outgoing secretary Ann Kearney. Ann has been Galway Camogie Secretary for the past five years.

A stalwart of Galway Camogie throughout the years having given over 30 years to camogie within the county, Ann was previously presented with the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Camogie Association in 2022, a tribute to the dedicated work of a person who has given a lifetime of service to Camogie. Ann was also the recipient of a Galway People of the Year Award in 2022.

Ann’s camogie career began with Presentation Convent, Oranmore culminating in winning an All-Ireland Colleges medal in 1972. She played for Oranmore club for several years and continued playing after her move to Turloughmore. She also played Ladies football for Galway reaching the All Ireland finals in 1975.

Ann became a founding member of Turloughmore camogie club in 1985 and went on to win Galway and Connacht medals with the club in Junior and Intermediate level. In late 1989, Ann became Chairperson of Galway Camogie Board. Read more here.

Earlier this year, Ann was a special guest on Galway Bay FM’s Over The Line presented by Gerry Murphy and George McDonagh. Listen back here.

We would like to thank Ann for the huge commitment she has shown to Galway Camogie over the many years in the promotion and development of camogie.

Go raibh míle maith agat!
