Following a Galway Camogie county board meeting on 15 November, 2023, the following positions were ratified:
SENIOR: Cathal Murray, Sarsfields, has been ratified as Galway Senior Camogie Manager for 2024/2025 with the option of 2026.
Cathal came on board as the manager of the senior camogie team towards the end of the 2018 League campaign. Prior to taking on the role of manager of Galway Camogie senior team, Cathal was manager of Sarsfields hurlers. Cathal played for Sarsfields in an All-Ireland Final at Croke Park at the end of his debut season in March 1998, and was player-manager when the East Galway outfit garnered their last county title in 2015. Cathal has been named as the recipient of the 2021 Camogie Association Manager of the Year and the 2021 Medtronic Sports Star Award for Manager of the Year.
INTERMEDIATE: Conor Dolan has been ratified as Galway Intermediate Camogie Manager for 2024.
Conor has been involved in intercounty camogie since 2018. He was part of Cathal Murray’s management team in 2018 and 2019. From 2020 to 2022 he was manager coach of his native Clare senior and junior teams. He managed the Galway Intermediate team in 2023. He has also had manager and coaching experience with senior club hurling teams in Clare, Limerick, Tipperary and most notable in Galway with Ardrahan over a 4 year period.
MINOR: Stephen Glennon, Craughwell, has been ratified as the new Galway Minor Camogie Manager for 2024/2025 with the option of 2026.
Stephen brings a wealth of experience to this role, having managed and coached camogie teams at underage with Craughwell; colleges with GMIT (now ATU in the Purcell Cup (2007, 2008); and with inter-county sides, Galway intermediates (2008) and Roscommon (2003). He also managed and coached at inter-county level with Galway men’s teams (intermediates/Maroon Stars and U14 Academy) and Roscommon (U16 to minor), while with Craughwell he coached at almost every level. His coaching experience also extends across men’s and ladies’ football having managed the Galway senior ladies in 2017 and 2018.
U16: Sharon Glynn, Pearses, has been ratified as the new Galway U16 Camogie Manager for 2024/2025 with the option of 2026.
Sharon has managed teams at all levels at Pearses club, from u14 to Senior Level over a 25 year period. She was the Galway Senior Manager in 2005 and 2006, winning the league in 2005, and selector with Galway seniors in 2012. She was involved with the Galway U14 Development in 2022, and manager of Galway U15 Development Squad in this current year of 2023.
