Compiling a history of Galway Camogie

Reaching out to Galway Camogie Clubs and other interested individuals:

A number of people are getting together in the next little while to work on formalising Galway Camogie’s history. This should result in the production of a book that will cover all types of Camogie activity in the county from the early 20th century to the present. Our web site will also see much of this work being put online too, at www.GalwayCamogie.ie.

If you are interested in getting involved, please contact James Lundon for inclusion in the mailing list of interested parties who will meet and discuss our options after the latest lockdown finishes. You can contact James Lundon at JamesLundon@yahoo.co.uk or +353 85 1436727 to express your interest in the project.

Areas that will be covered in the proposed history include:

  • Clubs – features on all clubs, existing and historic
  • Schools – primary, secondary & colleges
  • Inter-county – Junior, Intermediate, Senior, U-16, Minor, other underage
  • Administrative – County & Divisional Boards
  • Oral history – players and personalities
  • Rolls of honour – local championships etc.

This Galway Camogie History Group are open to any other directions that new members may take this project.

Thank you for your time.
