Sarsfields 5-13 Davitts 1-5
Sarsfields had a convincing win over Davitts in the opening game of the Windows and Rooflights LTD Senior A Championship on Saturday in Kilbeacanty. Davitts were without their key player, Ciara Hickey, after she suffered an ACL tear in the All Ireland Final with Galway. Sarsfields opened the scoring with two Siobhán McGrath points. Catherine Hanley scored a 45m free on the 4 th minute but it was all Sarsfields until the 31 st minute of the half. 0-2 Siobhán McGrath points, 0-4 from Niamh McGrath, and points from Shannon Corcoran and Klara Donohue along with goals from Siobhán McGrath, Corcoran and Caoimhe Kelly left the, 3-10 to 0-1 in front. Hanley replied with a free at the end of the half, but it was clear that Sarsfields were in full control of the game. Leah Behan got her name on the scoresheet in the opening minute of the second half but Sarsfields hit back again two Siobhán McGrath points and a well worked team goal through Siobhán McGrath, Corcoran and finished to the net by Donohue. Behan got her second of the half on the 12 th minute but Siobhán McGrath hit back two minutes later with her second major of the day. Scores dried up in the final quarter as Niamh McGrath slotted over a point for Sarsfields. It was Davitts who finished the strongest with 1-1 from Hanley. A long ball into the square deep in injury time landed from Hanley landed in the back of the Sarsfields net as it finished Sarsfields 5-13 Davitts 1-5.
Athenry 1-19 Shamrocks 1-19
A strong second half showing from Shamrocks saw them share the spoils with the current county and All Ireland Champions in the second game in Kilbeacanty on Saturday. Athenry who were missing some key players had to fight back in the final quarter to snatch a draw. Eimear Keane and Clodagh Burke through a free swapped scores with Katie Gilchirst (0-2, 0-1F) in the opening 6 minutes. Athenry hit four unanswered points through Keane, Kerri O’Driscoll, Kayla Madden and Jessica Gill. Shamrocks replied with points from Leah O’Halloran and a Gilchrist free. A point from Keane and two from Anna Jordan, either side of a Gilchrist free left it 0-9 to 0-5 after 21 minutes. O’Halloran got her second of the day a minute later, but Athenry responded well. A long ball in from Jenni McNamara found Burke and Burke blasted the ball into the back of the net. O’Driscoll and Jordan followed up with a point each before O’Halloran and Burke through a free swapped scores at the end of the half to leave 1-12 to 0-8 at the break. It was Shamrocks who came out hungrier in the second half. Four points from Gilchrist, three from frees, either side of a point from O’Driscoll, reduced the deficit to four by 37 th minute. Jordan replied for Athenry a minute later but a goal from Katie Donohue, two Gilchrist points, one through a free, two points from Niamh McInerney and a point from Donohue left Shamrocks 1-17 to 1-14 in front by the 47 th minute. Keane and McNamara replied for Athenry to reduce the deficit to one, two minutes later. Three Clodagh Burke frees and two points from Gilchrist in the final ten minutes left the sides deadlocked at 1-19 a piece. Shamrocks had a chance to snatch it near the end, but Gilchrist’s shot dropped short into the hands of Laura Freeney in the Athenry net.
Mullagh 2-15 Oranmore Maree 2-10
Oranmore Maree got off to a dream start when Ailish O’Reilly blasted a penalty past Sarah Dolan. Mullagh answered the goal by the 8 th minute with a Tegan Canning free and points from Aoife Connaughton and Amy King. It was all frees for the next 7 minutes as O’Reilly slotted 0-4 for Oranmore Maree while Canning pointed one for Mullagh. The sides were deadlocked by the 27th minute with two more Canning points and one from Aoife Donohue but it was O’Reilly who had the final say of the half leaving Oranmore Maree in front by the minimum at the break. Mullagh came out firing in the second half as Karen Kennedy hit a point and Donohue found the back of the net to give them the lead for the first time by the 36 th minute. O’Reilly hit back with her 6 th point of the day but Mullagh hit another scoring spree. Five unanswered points from Canning (0-2 45m), Donohue, King and Katie Manning, left Mullagh 1-13 to 1-6 ahead heading into the final quarter. O’Reilly from a free and Rachael Hanniffy pointed for Oranmore Maree either side of a Donohue point but a well worked ball from Pearl Finnerty and Erin Headd found Donohue on the 59 th minute and she made no mistake in netting her second major of the day. Headd added another point to their tally but it was Hanniffy who had the final asay of the day as she got Oranmore Maree’s second goal of the day as it finished Mullagh 2-15 Oranmore Maree 2-10.
Ardrahan 2-16 Clarinbridge 2-10
Ardrahan started the brighest with a free from Kate Devereux and a point from U16 star Cara Giblin. Niamh Niland and Deverux through a free swapped scores by the 6 th minute to leave it 0-3 to 0-1. Carrie Dolan brought the sides level by the 12 th minute with two frees but Deverux restored Ardrahan’s lead as she pointed two more scores by the 16 th minute. Niland slotted a free for Clarinbridge but Ardrahan’s decisive three-minute spell, in which they scored 2-2, proved key to their victory. Two goals a minute apart from Alisha Quinn and Deverux and points from Deverux and Giblin gave Ardrahan a nine-point cushion. Niland hit back with a goal for Clarinbridge but it was Ardrahan who finished the half off the strongest with points from Giblin and Chloe Cunningham to leave it 2-9 to 1-4 at the break. Aisling Dolphin and Devereux, from a placed ball, pointed for Ardrahan either side of a point from Dolan. Lauren Butler found the back of the net for Clarinbridge on the 36 th minute while Dolan followed up with a free two minute later to reduce their deficit to five. Deverux hit back with another free for Ardrahan but points from Niland and a Dolan free left four between the sides heading into the final quarter. It was Ardrahan who finished off the half the strongest. Two Devereux frees and points from Andrea Mullins and Siobhán Gardiner either side of two Dolan frees as Ardrahan ran out six point winners on the day.

Window and Rooflights LTD Senior B Championship
Ahascragh Caltra 3-10 Castlegar 0-12
Ahascragh Caltra got their campaign off to an ideal start on Friday evening in Fohenagh against Castlegar. As the saying goes, goals win games and two first half goals from Emma Reaney and Aoibheann Fitzpatrick and a second-half goal from Sarah Noone saw Ahascragh Caltra run out 3-10 to 0-12 winners on the day.
Salthill Knocknacarra 2-13 Carnmore 2-12
Salthill Knocknacarra got their first victory of the championship after a strong second half performance against Carnmore. The sides were level by the 7 th minute after two Alannah Fahy points for Carnmore and two Laura Kelly frees. Carnmore took control of the game, scoring 1–4 without reply, with points from Fahy (0-2, 0-1F), Jessica Donlon and Emily Brogran while Ava Morley found the back of the net for them on the 21 st minute. Siobhan Divilly and Fahy swapped scores by the 24 th minute, but it was Salthill Knocknacarra who finished the half the strongest with a point from Aoibhe Joyce and a free from Kelly to leave it 1-7 to 0-5 at the break. Scores were hard to come by in the opening 10 minutes of the second half with only Aoife Lawlor registering a point for the city side. Carnmore hit back with three unanswered points through Fahy (0-2) and Muireann Conroy. Two Kelly frees, a point from Aoibhe Dillon and goals from Joyce and Sorcha McGinley gave Salthill Knocknacarra a 2-9 to 1-10 lead with five minutes of normal time remaining. Brogan reduced the deficit to 1 but Joyce hit back with two quickfire points for Salthill Knocknacarra. A goal from Morley and a point from Emily Duggan made it look like Carnmore were going to sneak it but a point a piece from Kelly (free) and Dillon gave Salthill Knocknacarra a one point win on the day.
St Thomas 3-22 Killimor 0-8
St Thomas’ laid down their marker in the Senior B Championship after they had a comfortable win over Killimor. Ciara Mullins opened the scoring in the fifth minute, but Killimor hit back with two points from Niamh Mahony and a Niamh Horan free. 1-1 from Amy Caulfield and 45M free from Aine Keane saw St Thomas take a lead they would never let go of. The sides went score for score up to the 24 th minute with Horan slotting four frees for Killimor while Kayla Burke, Caulfield (0-2) and Keane through a free replied for St Thomas. It was St Thomas who finished the half the strongest with points from Burke, Caulfield and Keane through a free while Mullins sent a high ball in over Leah Horan in the Killimor net. Niamh Horan hit back with a free for Killimor leaving it 2-11 to 0-7 at the break. It was all St Thomas in the second half as they hit 1-11 without reply. Points from Keane (0-6, 0-4F), Abbie Massey 0-2, Burke 0-1, Siobhan Mullins 0-1 and 1-1 from Caulfield left them very much in the driving seat by the 58 th minute. Kate O’Sullivan got Killimor’s only score of the half on the 59 th minute with a well taken score from play as it finished St Thomas’ 3-22 Killimor 0-8.
Craughwell 3-15 Kinvara 3-15
A Katelyn Walsh free on the stroke of full-time secured Craughwell a share of the spoils against Kinvara in the opening round of the Senior B Camogie Championship in Gilligan Park on Sunday afternoon. Craughwell had led 3-7 to 1-7 at the interval, but a strong showing in the second period by Kinvara, for which a 33rd minute Aoibheann Barry goal was the catalyst, saw them take control in the third period. Although Craughwell went three in front in the final quarter, Kinvara responded again and a Ciara
Costello goal in the closing stages looked to have secured their side the victory. However, two late frees from Walsh, who shot 13 points from placed balls, salvaged a draw for the home side. While Kinvara may feel as if they left all three points behind them, Craughwell, too, will have regrets. They controlled the majority of the first half, with Katie Leen and Tara Stephens netting in the opening 12 minutes, before Vivien Blaine added a third on 21 minutes. Yet, Kinvara, whose opening goal came from Ella Bergin, finished strong in the first half and carried this momentum through into the second period, with the lead exchanging hands on several occasions before Walsh’s equaliser on the 60th minute.
