In a landmark decision at tonight’s Special Congress held at Croke Park, the Camogie Association voted in favor of allowing players the option to wear either skorts or shorts during competitive matches. The motion passed with a strong majority, marking a significant and progressive change to uniform policy.
This decision comes after growing calls from players to modernize the dress code.
The Galway Camogie executive welcomed the outcome with enthusiasm. The Galway Camogie executive also would like to expressed its joy at the result, calling it “a long overdue and player-first decision that reflects the evolving needs of our athletes.” They commended the players for their courage and the Association for listening.
Camogie President Brian Molloy confirmed the rule change will take effect from Midnight tonight, in time for the All-Ireland Championships, ensuring athletes can compete in attire that supports both performance and comfort.
