The Intermediate team, captained by Sinead Keane from Kinvara, overcame Limerick in the Liberty Insurance Intermediate final. Galway lost the 2012 decider to Derry by a point in a replay so the team were determined to overcome that disappointment of 2012. This victory was the stepping stone to further success at Senior level with players such as Orlaith McGrath, Rebecca Hennelly, Caitriona Cormican, Maria Cooney and Aoife Donohue all to the fore in the victory.
McGrath shone on the main stage on this infamous day for Galway camogie, picking off four points while picking up the player of the match award, and Hennelly struck three points through placed balls. Donohue slotted over a point in each half while Caitriona Cormican and Maria Cooney added points of their own in the 0-12 to 0-10 victory over Limerick as Galway claimed the Jack McGrath Cup for the 2nd time.
