Camogie Injury Prevention Programme

The Camogie Association’s Injury Prevention Programme was developed in 2019 by the Association’s Player Welfare department, in collaboration with DCU and Siobhan O’Connor, to provide knowledge and awareness to players and coaches around the most common injuries sustained on the pitch.

The Injury Prevention Programme is documented through three videos, detailing the programme through different phases a player will encounter:

  • Phase 1 involves running, cutting and landing mechanics
  • Phase 2 involves strength, plyometric and balance exercises
  • Phase 3 involves sport specific agility and power exercises

The videos are available to watch on the Player Welfare section of the Camogie Association website.

The Activate Injury Prevention Programme PDF can be downloaded from the Camogie Association’s Website.

The Injury Prevention Programme was developed by the Association’s former Player Welfare Co-ordinator Paul O’Donovan, in collaboration with DCU and Siobhan O’Connor.
